Runway Meets Everyday

New York Fashion Week is finally here and with it comes an equal amount of couture, creative, and downright crazy. How often do you see a model on the runway and think to yourself, “Who would actually wear that?”

If you’ve had that thought, you’re not alone. Sometimes I see runway outfits that make me question everything I know about style. There are always aspects to these looks that I can appreciate, but they’re not very practical for everyday life. And as busy as we all get, style doesn’t need to become another chore we add to our list.

What I recently realized about NYFW is that while some of the looks designers show may be a little bit out there, they’re all meant to do one thing and that is, simply put, to inspire us.

Everyone has style. It’s distinct to who they are and what they’re inspired by. We act, live and dress to match our inspiration, whether we realize it or not. A splash of blue in a painting you love may lead you to put a bright blue heel with an otherwise tired outfit; or, the rhythm of your favorite song may move you to pick a dress with an upbeat pattern in it. Inspiration is everywhere.

I want to show you some of my favorite runway looks* thus far, so you can see what I’ve been inspired by. I’m seeing a ton of bold, fresh patterns paired with classic silhouettes, crop-tops & cut-outs, and potential work wear that is anything but boring!
