The Trendiest Color Of Summer 2018 Is Mustard Yellow
Mustard, not just a very delicious condiment (if I do say so myself), is a color that’s taking this summer by storm. This sunshine-infused trend is lining the walls of retail establishments and infiltrating our Instagram news feeds. In short, it’s everywhere.
While this bold hue can feel daunting to take on, fear not. It’s oh-so possible, and not only that, it’s simple. Here are a few ways to incorporate mustard yellow into your hot weather wardrobe.
SHOES
A girl can never have too many, right?
I take pride in my shoe collection - the sneakerhead in me will always find an excuse to add new tennis shoes to my closet, but heels are my weakness. When I found these yellow gems, I just had to get them -- they are extremely versatile and add a pop of fun to all the outfits I pair with them. Add cropped, high-waisted jeans and a white blouse for the perfect look for a summer day in Austin or a sheath dress and blazer for a classic office look.
JACKETS
Let’s dive a little deeper into the trend with my current outerwear obsession: summer-weight jackets. This cropped, peplum jacket is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. It’s fitted, yet comfortable, which allows me to run around the city looking polished. I’ve paired it with a floral romper, that has hints of yellow in the print which tie into the jacket and pull the look together. Pieces like this are full of character and can make even your simplest outfits stand out. Throw it on over a monochromatic look for brunch on South Congress or a show at the Paramount.
BAGS
Adding a pop of yellow to any outfit doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Even something as small as a mini bag can add a bold statement to your look. I decided to don an all-white look and added a bright yellow purse with silver hardware for a touch of energy and fun.

Happy summer — be sure to shine!
