4 Statement Pieces To Try For Spring 2020

Fashion mimics nature through color, texture, shape, and pattern. And there is no season when this is clearer than in spring.

You might not be ready for the hot weather to roll in, but it’s pretty impossible to keep from getting giddy at the site of Texas wildflowers (I saw my first bluebonnets of the year last weekend!)

It’s these little clues from nature that let you know it’s time to bring out your boldest and brightest pieces to get you in the mood for what’s to come.

Here are four of my favorite statement pieces for spring 2020.

THE STATEMENT BLAZER

Jackets should be a key part of many of your outfits, because they can take your look from basic to put together in an instant.

Blazers, in particular, are the perfect jackets for spring, because they’re light enough to rock in 80-degree weather and can give you a little layer when it’s 65 out. You can comfortably wear them while sitting at your desk or over a dress for weekend fun.

While your black blazer is a year-round necessity, the statement blazer in colors like aqua, watermelon, or coral will keep your look sophisticated (just like the black) while giving you a little edge through an eye-catching finish this spring.

THE SNAKE EARRINGS

These western-inspired earrings give you a balance of fiesty and feminine for spring. Snake prints are big right now, especially in jewelry, so if you’re willing to get fierce with your look, these are a big winner that you can use in a bunch of different outfits.

For the office, they add a powerful touch. Play it up with an all black outfit or soften the look with a chambray shirt, white denim, and taupe oxfords.

For weekend, add them to a kimono-style jacket, jean shorts, a spaghetti-strap tan, and espadrilles.

They’re also the perfect piece for special occasions — try them with an 80s-style suit or a deep-v jumpsuit for your most daring look of the season.

THE ANIMAL PRINT TEE

Animal print has been big for a while now, but it’s time to lighten it up for spring with the t-shirt you’ll want to wear over and over again.

Add this to grey denim, nude pumps, and a black blazer for the office.

Tuck it into a denim skirt with sand fashion sneakers and oversized gold hoops for an easy look for brunch or a brewery.

THE TIE-DYE TOP

Oh yes, tie-dye is back, and if you aren’t running in the other direction, you should totally embrace this trend. Like a denim shirt or white button-down, this print is easy to work into your closet and brings a fun and funky touch through the retro pattern.

Wear it with denim short, a denim jacket, and cowboy booties to keep it simple or add it to white, wide-leg pants and platform heels for a night out with your girlfriends.

Make it into a shirt jacket by opening it up and wearing it long over a simple tee and blue denim or tie it up over your favorite spring dress for a feminine finish.

Now, I would love to hear from you! Leave me a comment below and share which spring statement piece you’re most excited to try.

Lots of love and joy!
