Want to celebrate the 4th in style? Here are 15 outfits to inspire your holiday look.

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday.

And even though it’s going to be a little different this year, it’s still a good excuse for a fabulous outfit. The 4th has a unique color scheme, which makes dressing for it particularly fun.

You don’t need all three colors in every outfit, but the staying within red, white, and blue realm gives you a little style challenge: Race to find everything in your closet that’s those colors and see how each piece fits together.

Now, you have some freedom in the types of colors that you choose within these families. For example, you’ll see I have a watermelon top styled below, which fits in my red family. I use Caribbean blue a lot in my outfits, but you can use navy, cobalt, sky, etc... For white, you can go with off-white, true white, cream, or even champagne.

Every closet is different.

The thing about style is that it’s not about having an exact piece to fit an exact look. It’s about taking inspiration from what you see and making an outfit that’s your own.

So for the outfits below, here’s what I want you to think about and take into your closet when you style your look this week….

  • LINKING: When one piece of the outfit speaks to another piece of the outfit, it helps turn the outfit into a cohesive look. For example, linking white earrings to a white top, blue earrings to a blue pattern, white earrings to a white necklace, or denim to denim makes the look come together.

  • LAYERING: Finishing touches like multiple necklaces, bold sunglasses, a shirt jacket, or a denim jacket will bring give the look a fresh, thoughtful edge.

  • MIXING: When you start to create different outfits from a handful of pieces, things magically work to each other (especially when you’re focused on one color scheme!).

Enjoy. Explore. And let me know what you build! Leave me a comment below and share what you’ll be wearing for this 4th.

Lots of love and joy!
