The Balancing Trick That Can Make or Break Your Outfit
Balance in an outfit is just as important as the pieces you’re wearing.
A color, texture, pattern, or recognizable designer can be an immediate talking point. But to create a masterpiece (or just a great everyday outfit), you have to put as much care into the assembly as you do in picking the parts.
A look that’s unbalanced or overdone is just as easy to spot as one that’s perfectly put together. Knowing the difference and understanding how balance works allows you to create those perfect outfits over and over again.
I’m sharing an easy trick to create balance that you can apply today, tomorrow, and the next to put together your outfit in the morning.
Here’s what you need: one fitted piece and one full piece.
This means that one item needs excess fabric that balloons a bit from the body while the other piece has no extra fabric to spare.
Another way of saying it is that tight goes with loose. Big goes with little. Fitted goes with flowy. (If you’re my client, you’ve probably heard me say this!)
