The Perfect Summer Tees for Your Body Type
INVERTED TRIANGLE
Your shoulders are wider than your hips. To balance your shape, a fitted tee or tank is best. Stay away from wide necklines like a boat-neck or scoop-neck and instead go with a crew neck, v-neck, or halter tank to accentuate your long and lean silhouette.
PEAR
Highlighting your waist is essential for a pear body type. Your widest point is your hips, which means your pants or skirt should hit at your waist. Your t-shirt should hit there too. Try a cropped or pre-tied tee (like the striped one) for a style that already ends at your waist, or tuck in a longer tee with a looser fit (like the black one) for a cut that will balance your shoulder-to-hip ratio.
RECTANGLE
You have a lot of freedom in choosing your perfect tee. The balanced silhouette of rectangular body type allows you to play with necklines and t-shirt lengths more than any other body type. You may like a more relaxed t-shirt to give you some curves, so for this style, try a v-neck, crew neck, or scoop neck tee. Play with the neckline by adding layerable necklaces inside or on top of the neckline. Finish the look by adding a side tuck that plays into the relaxed vibes of the tee or leave it long like the Gen Zers.
APPLE
Be open with how you wear your tees, but discerning when choosing the cut. Go broad on the shoulders of your t-shirt or deep with the v-neckline. Untuck longer tees that hit right around your hips. Tuck shorter tees that hit above your hips. Using both styling techniques will allow you to play into natural line of your body, rather than cutting across your shape.
HOURGLASS
Just like an apple, you can leave your tees tucked or untucked, but the times you’ll be doing each of these will be different. As an hourglass, following the shape of your body means highlighting your waist with most outfits. If a tee is cropped or hits right at your waist, you can leave it untucked, because it’s already highlighting your waist. If a tee hits below your waist or close to your hips, make sure to do a front tuck, side tuck, or full tuck to accentuate your silhouette.
